Just Enough

I went to teach my painting class during a deep period of insomnia. I was not sleeping due to me catching up on previous orders and my mind was just on go. I was teaching my students not to compare themselves to any other artist and to simply be themselves in order to create from the skill level that they are presently at. One should let the work drive itself and it will direct your hands. After my lecture I began to paint alongside my students.  Sleep deprived and not knowing where my painting was headed this was the outcome. Most people know I am an artist that usually paints realism and portraits. However this was what my hands decided to render.  Having to take my own lecture into consideration, I did not disregard this painting because it was not my usual style.  I was proud of it and held it high as I walked through the streets after class to hang the painting in my gallery. As I walked to my studio a random person walked up and said I was looking for a painting just like that. How much? I say this to say, don’t disregard anything you create.  Instead embrace it as a part of you and hold it up high for the world to see. Someone, somewhere will see your worth and value the work of your hands.
